A tub in a library. What a fabulous idea.

This is all I’ve ever wanted. Although the humidity would ruin those poor books.

I want to go to there.

Next month IKEA will introduce a new, deeper version of its ubiquitous “BILLY” bookcase. The flat-pack furniture giant is already promoting glass doors for its bookshelves. The firm reckons customers will increasingly use them for ornaments, tchotchkes and the odd coffee-table tome—anything, that is, except books that are actually read.

Great digital expectations, The Economist

In my experience though, the BILLY bookcase is a bit flimsy to begin with, as with most IKEA furniturea.

Bookshelves: A casualty of digitization.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen built-in bookshelves in like, FOREVER. This is why I’ve been such an enthusiastic consumer of e-books as it means that I’ll never have to buy another flimsy bookshelf from IKEA. The less I have to pack when it’s time to move the better.
